Luke Greicius joined Evident in August 2023, after over a decade of working as an American diplomat, most recently working on climate and clean energy policies through North and South America.
Luke’s impressive career has taken him all over the world, from Cambodia to Brazil, living in Paris, Washington and now, London.
When moving to the UK, Luke wanted to play an integral role in helping the private sector be a driving force of decarbonisation, particularly in developing countries. He knew that working with Evident in his role as Head of Policy would allow him to do just that.
In this interview, Luke discusses his role at Evident, what he’s working on, and his goals.
I really believe Evident’s certification process is unique.
It combines the latest technological tools with human-led fact checking and will be critical to tracking and driving progress toward NetZero globally.
Certificates like I-REC and other environmental attribute certificates are making a huge difference – channelling climate finance to the global south and in turn addressing one of the most pressing inequalities in the green transition.
I’m Evident’s Head of Policy. We’re constantly scanning the globe for potential risks and opportunities stemming from government regulations, multilateral agreements such as the UN Paris Agreement, and various non-governmental initiatives and standards like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
We actively engage in these policy discussions, striving to clarify to policymakers the pivotal role our certification services hold in the global push towards decarbonisation.
Governments are stepping up their efforts, putting mandates in place, and offering incentives – all of which need to be properly measured, verified and certified to work fairly, and equitably.
Evident’s blend of technology and human verification is here to ensure the certainty and comparability of the decarbonisation claims made by companies and other organisations. The transparency and clarity we provide empowers companies to make informed decisions about the tools they can use to achieve their NetZero goals.
While the exact path I will take is hard to predict, I’m confident of a few things:
1. The work I’m doing will play a significant role in tackling the most pressing challenge of our time.
2. I’ll be doing this alongside a team, of highly skilled and principled individuals.
3. I’ll be supported by a leadership team that prioritises the growth and well-being of its colleagues.
“In our line of work, collaboration is essential to unlocking a sustainable solution and ensuring that no one is left behind.”
